Ten “Positivements”

While sorting through some papers that had been in storage for at least a decade, I came across this piece that I wrote for the Morisset Weekly News in 1999.

Sometimes we regard the Ten Commandments as being a list of “thou-shalt-not”s. but it is not necessary to view them that way. Here are God’s Ten “Positivements”:
  1. We can rejoice in worshipping Him alone
  2. We are blessed when we love Him with all our heart
  3. God wants us to feel comfortable about respecting His name
  4. We have His reminder to celebrate with Him the birth of His creation
  5. We can benefit from the privilege of the mutual respect of parents and children
  6. God grieves when others hurt us and wills that we treat others the way that we would wish to be treated
  7. God has a plan for us to have happy homes
  8. Because God would like us to have possessions without them being stolen He asks us to help by setting an example of honesty
  9. God does not want us to get hurt by telling lies, and
  10. God wants us to be happy and content with what we have.
